Favorite STS core course?

SOC 114: Economic Sociology

One interesting STS concept/story/example/quote that you learned in class or use to explain STS to others?

It was STS 200A: Food & Society that most clearly illustrated to me how the scientific understanding of nutrition, anthropological and historical insights into the origins of food culture, and political consideration of the major players all inform one's understanding of the complex U.S. food system. Reforming such systems and addressing the other societal issues of our time requires understanding systemic complexities in such a way that cannot be achieved without consideration of this range of perspectives.

Dream job after college?

Privately consulting with higher education institutions and healthcare management organizations to systematically adjust the provision of healthcare services to support holistic well-being of students and patients.

I have loved dancing with Basmati Raas, Stanford's co-ed, 16-member competitive Indian folk dance team. I have also served as a Co-Director for Mental Health for the ASSU Executive, and I serve on the board for Challenge Success, a non-profit organization focused on reframing success in schools and supporting student well-being.

The gardens near the Littlefield Center that are frequented by hummingbirds around this time of year.

What is one goal you'd like to accomplish during your lifetime?

Go scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.

If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Use the money to work towards two causes - (1) reforming school curriculum in the U.S. and (2) working with the APA to increase accountability and standards of care in the U.S. mental healthcare system.
