Jelena Batinic is an Academic Advising Director with Undergraduate Advising and Research (UAR) at Stanford. Her conversations with students address topics such as academic planning, exploring interests, course selection, choosing majors, assessing academic progress, finding opportunities for research and service, applying for grants and fellowships, and understanding university requirements and policies.

Jelena is a historian specializing in modern East European history. Her research interests include World War II, the modern Balkans, and gender history. She is the author of Women and Yugoslav Partisans: A History of World War II Resistance (Cambridge University Press, 2015).

Prior to joining UAR in 2015, Jelena was a Fellow in the Thinking Matters Program at Stanford. She has also designed and taught courses in Stanford’s Department of History.
