Setting up your computer
Before you use Movi for the first time, you need to install the Movi software and get a Movi user ID. In addition, you need to ensure that you have the following devices and that they function properly:
- A video camera: The built-in camera on your computer, or a third-party USB device such as the Cisco PrecisionHD.
- A microphone: The built-in microphone on your computer or monitor, or a third-party USB device such as a headset or a desktop microphone.
To set up your computer:
- Download the Movi software for PC or Mac and install it on your computer.
- Submit a HelpSU request for a Movi user ID and password. You will receive an email with a username, password, and an address that other people can contact you with through Movi.
- Launch the Movi application and enter your Movi username and password.

Connect and configure audio and video
- Connect your audio and video devices to your computer, if they're not already built in.
- Check your system settings to ensure that your audio input is from the correct source such as your built-in computer mic (often known as Line In), your headset, or an external USB microphone. Additionally, set your audio output for Line Out: your internal computer speaker, your headset, or external speakers.
Your settings may vary, but this is the audio settings pane in Mac OS. To find it, go to Settings > Sound > Input. |
This is the audio settings pane in Windows XP. To find it, go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Voice. Click the Advanced button to browse for your microphone if you don't see it selected already. |
