Dr Mendoza has a long-standing interest in the health, nutrition, and development of Latino children and in access to health development of Latino children and in access to health care among under-served populations. The recipient of numerous honors, he is the former Co-Director of the Stanford University Center for Chicano Research and former Co-Director of the Iner-University Program for Chicano Research. Currently, as Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics, he is developing a community-based pediatric program. Lastly, he recently served on an Institute of Medicine's Committee, the Committee on the Health and Adjustment of Immigrant children entitled: From Generation to Generation: The Health and Well-Being of Children in Immigrant Families.
