"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief or bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."

Henri Nouwen from "Out of Solitude"

It is our hope that you will find the information listed here useful during your time of bereavement. It includes information about on-going workshops and programs that are available to you on campus as well as off-campus resources and additional websites that you might find helpful. We also provide an opportunity to create a virtual memorial site to remember loved ones.

We encourage you to take advantage of the email list described within and connect with other members of the Stanford community that are experiencing grief at this time.
