The Hematopathology laboratory provides diagnostic evaluation of blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes, spleen, and hematolymphoid lesions in other sites, and includes faculty and staff with expertise in both anatomic and clinical pathology. The division's hematopathology consult service reviews over 2000 cases a year, submitted by pathologists and oncologists from the U.S. and other countries. A one-year hematopathology fellowship is available.
We offer expert hematopathology consultation on histologic slides, blocks and fresh tissue samples, including blood and bone marrow. Our services include:
- Fresh or fixed tissue consultation, including peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymph node, spleen and other organs
- immunohistochemistry and paraffin section in-situ hybridization
- flow cytometric immunophenotyping
- cytogenetics and fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH)
- molecular diagnostics
- other diagnostic studies including cytochemical testing and special RBC studies
