Thomas Stamey, a professor emeritus of urology and a leader in the study and treatment of prostate cancer, died Sept. 4 in Portola Valley, Calif.

Nathan Rosenberg, the Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. Professor of Public Policy, Emeritus, who was an expert on the economic history of technology, died Aug. 24 in Palo Alto.

John Henry Merryman, the Nelson Bowman Sweitzer and Marie B. Sweitzer Professor of Law, Emeritus, who was an expert in art and cultural property, died Aug. 3 in Palo Alto.

Robert Conquest, a Hoover Institution senior research fellow emeritus who was an expert on the Soviet Union, died Aug. 3 in Stanford.

July

Teofilo "Teo" Soza-Reynoso, who for more than 40 years managed the historic properties that housed students and faculty-in-residence in the Bing Overseas Studies Program in Oxford, England, died July 27, 2015, in Oxford.

Masahiko Aoki, a Stanford economist who forged new ways of thinking about organizations, institutions and East Asian economies, died July 15 in Palo Alto.

June

Susan Groag Bell, a visiting scholar at the Clayman Institute for Gender Research who played a significant role in the founding of the institute in the 1970s, died June 24 in Palo Alto.

Wilfred H. Stone, a professor emeritus of English who was known for his knowledge of 19th- and 20th-century British literature, died June 11 in Stanford.

Henry E. "Hank" Riggs, professor emeritus of engineering and a former vice president of development, died June 10 in Palo Alto.

Ben Rolfs, a doctoral student in the Computational and Mathematical Engineering program, died May 31 in the Boston area.

Ray Bacchetti, a former vice president for planning and management who held several positions during his Stanford career of more than three decades, died May 10 in Palo Alto.

Ruth S. Schneider, who served as director of the Career Planning and Placement Center, now the Career Development Center, until her retirement in 1996, died May 6 in Palo Alto.

Arthur P. Wolf, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation Professor in Human Biology and professor of anthropological sciences, died May 2.

April

William Cohen, a professor emeritus at Stanford Law School and constitutional law expert, died April 11 in Palo Alto.

Norman Nie, a Stanford political scientist who revolutionized how social scientists analyze data, died April 2 in Sun Valley, Idaho.

March

Paul Kalanithi, a neurosurgeon who wrote eloquently and movingly about facing mortality after being diagnosed with lung cancer, died March 9 in Stanford.

J. Paul Lomio, director of the Robert Crown Law Library, died March 6 in Palo Alto.

January

Carl Djerassi, a professor emeritus of chemistry known as the father of the birth control pill, as well as an accomplished novelist and playwright, died Jan. 30 in San Francisco.

Anna Maria Zarate Porras, a staff member who led fundraising and volunteer engagement efforts for the university, died Jan. 21 in Redwood City, Calif.

Jalen Jimmy Paukan, an undergraduate student majoring in psychology, died Jan. 5 in Stanford.

Martin Anderson, the Keith and Jan Hurlbut Senior Fellow, emeritus, at the Hoover Institution who served in the presidential administrations of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, died Jan. 3 in Portola Valley, Calif.
