Stanford Repertory Theater presents its 17th annual summer festival, this year celebrating the work of Noël Coward. Playwright, actor, director, songwriter and lyricist, singer and dancer, painter and novelist, Coward emerged as a performing “Renaissance man,” who shaped important aspects of English and American culture from 1920 – 1970.

As part of its Noël Coward Festival, SRT will mount Coward’s masterpiece Hay Fever as our main stage production. Directed by Lynne Soffer (who directed SRT’s critically acclaimed production of The Importance of Being Earnest in 2013), Hay Fever stars SRT company artist Courtney Walsh as Judith Bliss, the diva with a penchant for non-retirement, and features Deborah Fink as Myra Arundel, Richard Carlton as David Bliss, Rush Rehm as Richard Greatham, Catharine Luedtke as Clara, and other SRT company members.

A brilliantly witty look at the self-dramatization of family life and family loves (!), Hay Fever has delighted audiences for almost a century.

In addition to Hay Fever, we present our second-stage production of Coward Cabaret directed by SRT veteran Brendon Martin. Song, dance, style, and flair mark this celebration of the many talents of Mr. Coward, featuring the stylish and debonair Dante Belletti, Kikki Bagger, Andre Amoratico, and Samantha Williams.

Noël Coward: Art, Style, and Decadence also includes a free Monday night film series, a community symposium, and a Stanford Continuing Studies Program course, “Theater on Theater: From Euripides’ Bacchae to Noel Coward (and beyond).”
