How To: Create New Event

Create a Domestic Event

A domestic event consists of an Event Name (which you create and enter), and Start and End Dates that define the duration of the event.

1. Enter the Event Name
2. Event Type defaults to Domestic
3. Enter Event Start Date
4. Enter Event End Date
5. Click Submit (if necessary)

Note:  The event will be automatically added to your My Events Preferences.

Create a Foreign Event

Applying an event is mandatory for expense reports for foreign expenses. A foreign event consists of an Event Name (which you create and enter), and Start and End Dates that define the duration of the event. In addition, you must enter event lines that identity the country, types of activities in the country, and number of each type of person involved with each activity. You'll enter one event line for each activity.

1. Enter the Event Name
2. Event Type defaults to Foreign
3. Enter Event Start Date
4. Enter Event End Date
5. Click Add Event Lines
6. Enter Event Line
   • Country of Activity
   • Activity Type
   • Activity Start Date
   • Activity End Date
   • Number of each type of person involved with the activity
     • Faculty
     • Employee
     • Graduate Student
     • Undergrad Student
     • Other
7. Continue adding event lines (steps e and f) until all unique activities have been entered
   Note:  A Foreign Event may include multiple countries, and a country may have multiple activities.
8. Click Submit (if necessary)

Notes: 

• Foreign travel is defined as having either the origination or destination location outside the United States. If the travel is to the United States from a foreign location, the Country of Activity in the foreign event may be the Unites States. • The Event will be added to you My Events Preferences.
