Matthew Emrich, Associate Director, Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate Quote from Emrich: “I served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8 years as an Infantryman and a Counterintelligence Specialist. I learned how to use teamwork to accomplish challenging goals, and that the key to successfully navigating complex environments is to be calm and have an open mind to new solutions. I am fortunate to serve the American people by applying those and other lessons to my work at USCIS. The military gave me a love for public service.”

Therefore, you will receive notice about your I-131 some time after notification on your I-765. There is no need to inquire about the I-131 unless it is outside of normal processing times. Adjudicating these applications separately reduces I-765 processing times.

When I-485 applicants file Forms I-765 and I-131 at the same time, we often adjudicate the I-765 first. If approved, we issue an Employment Authorization Document without any notation about the advanced parole application. We will then adjudicate the Form I-131 separately.
