In 2012 Stanford R&DE lived up to its mission of having students come first by partnering with Starbucks Coffee Company to launch the first ever full-service corporate Starbucks store on a university campus. Currently ranked 4 stars on Yelp, Stanford R&DE’s Starbucks has sparked energy and excitement throughout Tresidder Memorial Union, and the Stanford community as a whole. Whether you’re looking for something to keep you awake in that early morning class, or to help you pull an all-nighter before an exam, Starbucks is here to improve your overall Stanford experience. 

Starbucks Meets Stanford: In 2008, Stanford alumni Zander Nosler ‘94, Randy Hulett ’97, and Jorah Wyer ’94 sold their prized creation, the Clover Coffee Machine, to Starbucks, changing the way Starbucks would brew their coffee in the future. These machines brew one coffee cup at a time with fresh ground beans, and can specifically program the temperature, amount of water, and brewing time for a drink to be tailored to a particular bean. Randy Hulett, co-founder of The Coffee Equipment Company, went on to work for Starbucks as their Director of Hardware Design Studio for six years.
