Biography

Julie Padowski’s research interests center on water resource issues, with a focus on urban water management. Sustainable water management is critical for human well-being and environmental systems. Julie’s research is aimed at identifying and quantifying water vulnerability at the global scale. Her current projects include the development of a comprehensive scalable framework for assessing water vulnerability and critical evaluation of the impacts of urban competition for inter-basins water supply transfers.

Julie completed her undergraduate degree in environmental science at the University of Rochester. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Soil and Water Science Department at the University of Florida. As a doctoral student, she was a National Science Foundation Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) fellow in a program focused on the adaptive management of water, wetlands and watersheds. Her doctoral research investigated water availability and vulnerability issues in large U.S. cities.
