1965 Te Vega leaving Rabaul, Papau New Guinea

Last weekend Hopkins Marine Station hosted the third Te Vega reunion. The Te Vega was a National Science Foundation-funded ship that sailed around the world in the 1960's. The program was managed by Hopkins Marine Station. Ben Richards was the ship's doctor on cruise #6. Ben took this picture as the ship was sailing out of Rabaul Harbor, Paupau New Guinea. Volcano Matupi is in the background on the right.
