Making it in America: Perspectives on Economic Inequality

April 14, 2015 @ 7:00 pm

RSVP at this Eventbrite link.

In recent years, and particularly since the 2008 financial crisis, economic inequality has become a major political issue in America. Why does inequality matter, if at all, and why are people paying more attention to it now? What are the trends in economic inequality? What should we do about it, both as a nation and as students at a university where 50% of the undergraduate student body comes from the top 5% of the U.S. income spectrum?

The panelists for this event come from backgrounds in Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, Public Policy, and Sociology. They have examined the policy and politics of inequality through both the academy and political activism, including Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. Join us for a distinguished panel and a post-panel discussion with other students.

Moderated by Rob Reich
Professor of Political Science, professor by courtesy of Philosophy and Education, director of the Program on Ethics and Society, and co-director of the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Service
