gfs - Fall 2015

What does this mean?

No more waiting at your computer to sign up for classes! There are no longer individual class registrations; all classes offered on the Group Fitness schedule are for a single price, and participants can drop into any class on the schedule throughout the quarter.

How does it work?

You will purchase a “Group Fitness Pass” online and receive a sticker that goes on the back of your ID card. This sticker gives you access to all of the classes on the Recreation Group Fitness Schedule. After online registration (opens September 9), stickers will be distributed the first two weeks of each quarter, and on an as-needed basis if the pass is purchased later in the quarter.

Classes Outside of the Fitness Centers
For all classes that take place outside of the Fitness Centers (NOT TRX, Jungle Gym, Boxing, or Indoor Cycling), there are NO ONLINE RESERVATIONS, you will show your Group Fitness Pass sticker to the instructor teaching your class.

Classes in the Fitness Centers
For classes that take place in the Fitness Centers: TRX, Jungle Gym, Boxing, and Indoor Cycling, you have the ability to reserve for your class online one day before class to ensure your spot.

a. Everyone who has purchased the Group Fitness Pass will have access to make reservations via the system by logging into MindBody Online. After your purchase of either single class passes or the Group Fitness Pass, you will receive information on how to log in and create your MindBody Online account. Stanford Recreation MindBody account is available here.

How does MindBody Online work?
a. Reservations open the day before classes (not 24 hours before a specific class), i.e. you can reserve any time on Tuesday for classes on Wednesday.

b. You can only reserve one class per day.

c. Each participant will get THREE ‘late cancels’ or ‘no shows’ before being disallowed to use the reservation system for two weeks. Please be sure to cancel at least one hour before the start of class to avoid these penalties and allow your fellow Group Fitness Pass users to be able to enjoy the classes.

Wait List
a. There is a wait list for every class. If someone cancels their reservation, you will be alerted via email to take action immediately and sign up for class.

b. One hour before class, the wait list CLEARS and any open spots are available to ANYONE regardless of if they were on the waiting list or not.

Single Class Passes
If you purchased 1, 5, or 10 class passes, you will need to register for the MindBody system using the same steps above. You will have access to reserve the number of classes purchased on MindBody Online. If you wish to take classes outside of the Fitness Centers, please notify recreation@stanford.edu so we can issue you paper class passes to give to the instructor for single class redemption since these classes do not have pre-reservations.

Thank you! Please contact recreation@stanford.edu if you have any additional questions.

How do I get my BeWell berry (for eligible staff and faculty)?
BeWell berries will be automatically applied at the end of each quarter (please allow 2-3 weeks for it to show up in your BeWell account). If you have questions about berries or your berry is not showing up in your account, please contact bewell@stanford.edu.
