Vint Cerf to headline journalism conference

Vint Cerf, a founding father of the Internet and Google's chief Internet evangelist, will open the third annual Conference on Innovation Journalism at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, in the Oak Room at Tresidder Union.

The three-day event, which is free and open to the public, will feature a panel discussion on the future of innovation journalism moderated by Cerf and David Nordfors, a senior research scholar at the Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning. Participants will include Harry McCracken of PC World, Joel Dreyfuss of Red Herring, Tony Perkins of Always-On Networks, Michael Kanellos of CNET News.com and John Furrier of Podtech Networks. Curtis Carlson, president of SRI International, will open the second day of the meeting, which will feature a keynote speech by Almar Latour, technology editor at the Wall Street Journal. The final day will offer presentations about innovation journalism initiatives in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Pakistan, Slovenia and the Basque region of Spain.
