New BART service to OAK—Now Open!

It’s fast, it’s frequent, it’s convenient, and it’s open. BART’s new service to OAK provides an easy connection to Oakland International Airport.

Take the sleek, automated people movers from the Coliseum station or Oakland International Airport for a quick eight-minute ride that glides above traffic.

Note: with BART service to OAK now open, AirBART bus service has been discontinued.

Location: The Oakland Airport BART station is located just across from the Terminal 1 baggage claim area and a short walk from Terminal 2.

Taking BART to/from Downtown Oakland 
Take BART from OAK to Coliseum Station. From Coliseum Station, take a 12-minute ride on a Richmond-bound train to the 12th Street/Oakland City Center station and you'll be right in downtown, a few blocks from Oakland Chinatown and Jack London Square. To return to OAK, take a Fremont-bound train to the Coliseum station and transfer to a BART to OAK train at Platform 3.

Taking BART to/from Downtown San Francisco
Take BART from OAK to Coliseum Station, then board a San Francisco/Daly City-bound train. BART stops at four downtown San Francisco stations that are an easy walk or short cab ride to most San Francisco hotels. BART shares these stations with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (Muni) which can also take you throughout the City.

• Embarcadero (1st SF stop) - Lower Financial District, Hyatt Regency and taxis or Muni to Fisherman's Wharf hotels. Use the Drumm Street exit for the Hyatt Embarcadero.
• Montgomery St. (2nd SF stop) - Financial District and Moscone North/South. Use the Market/3rd Street exit for Moscone Center, W Hotel, Westin, The Palace and Financial District and South of Market (SOMA) hotels.
• Powell St. (3rd SF stop) - Use the Hallidie Plaza exit for the Intercontinental, Parc 55, Hilton, Nikko and Union Square hotels. Use the 4th Street exit for the Marriott and Moscone West.
• Civic Center/UN Plaza (4th SF stop) - Exit for Upper Market, Van Ness, the Castro and Civic Center districts. Take the Market/7th Street exit for the Renoir Hotel.

Getting back to Oakland International Airport 
To return to OAK, take a Fremont or Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train to the Coliseum station then transfer to the BART to OAK train at Platform 3.

BART Tickets
Children 4 and under ride free. Everyone else must have a BART ticket or a Clipper card. BART tickets are like debit cards with stored value. All BART stations have automatic ticket vending machines that accept nickels, dimes, quarters and $1 coins, as well as $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. You can also use a credit card in select machines. BART's fare structure is built on a mileage-based formula therefore weekly or monthly passes are not available.

When you enter BART, insert your ticket into the fare gate and it will be returned to you. Use the same ticket when you exit. The correct fare will be automatically deducted and tickets with remaining value will be returned. If your ticket has too little value, a sign on the fare gate will read "Underpaid: Go to Addfare." A nearby Addfare vending machine will tell you how much additional fare you must add to your ticket to exit the BART system.

BART Schedule
BART has one of the highest on-time performance records in the nation, but to be prudent you should give yourself a little extra time in case you miss a transfer or an unanticipated delay occurs. If you have an early morning weekend flights, please note that BART service begins at 6 a.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. on Sundays.

Luggage
Please keep the aisles clear by storing your luggage under your seat or holding it on your lap. Some cars have space cleared by the doors to accommodate wheelchairs, bikes or strollers. If the space is not being used by a person with a disability, you may store your luggage there, but please keep it within your control at all times.

All BART stations are accessible to persons with disabilities
