    Assessing the Risk of Yield Curve Inversion

    In Little Rock, Ark., St. Louis Fed President James Bullard talked about the possibility that the yield curve would invert, whereby short-term interest rates would surpass long-term interest rates, and how such an inversion could be avoided. In the past, an inverted yield curve has helped predict recessions.

    When Will U.S. Inflation Return to Target?

    Inflation has been mostly below the Fed’s 2 percent target since 2012 and is unlikely to return to target anytime soon, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said in Louisville, Ky. At the Economic Update Breakfast, he also spoke about inflation expectations, GDP growth, the labor market and financial conditions.
