Overview

Construction activities are underway at the future Milpitas BART Station area. Demolition of existing buildings began in Summer 2013 and crews are in the process of utility relocations, specifically along Piper Drive, Montague Expressway and across Capitol Avenue. This work necessitates lane closures on both Montague Expressway and Capitol Avenue and traffic capacities on these roadways will be reduced intermittently through mid-2014. The traffic modifications will also accommodate street level bridge construction. Tree trimming, leveling the ground, and verifying utility locations are among other corridor preparation activities underway. To help power the BART system, a power substation is being installed at Railroad Court near Calaveras Boulevard in Milpitas. VTA's BART Silicon Valley Extension Community Outreach staff will continue to provide ample notice of all construction activities and traffic updates.
