Just three days after the San Francisco Giants won the 2014 World Series, the Bay Area Science Festival’s “Discovery Days" transformed their home stadium, AT&T Park, into a science paradise. SLAC joined dozens of local scientific institutions to entertain and educate the tens of thousands of Bay Area residents who came out for the free event. SLAC’s exhibits included a model showing how the LCLS X-ray laser works, a dark matter cosmic jigsaw puzzle and solar-observing telescopes set up in the infield. Two dozen SLAC scientists and staff volunteered to come and talk to the public about how SLAC pursues discoveries at the forefront of science.
