Jerry Yang and Akiko Yamazaki Environment and Energy Building (Y2E2)
Project Description
The interdisciplinary Environment and Energy Initiative has the potential to make Stanford a world leader in environmental research and teaching. The stated vision of the initiative is to promote an environmentally sound and sustainable world. Presently, Stanford's environmental research is in multiple campus buildings and is not as interdisciplinary as it could be. The vision for the environmental initiative can be realized by locating, within one building, researchers from Civil and Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, Conservation Biology and Ecology, Economics and Natural Resource Management, and Environmental Policy and Law. Achieving the vision for the Institute for the Environment requires that challenging research issues be addressed by multidisciplinary interactions.
