Treasure Market 2011: Vintage in Vogue
Art and Antiques Event and Sale Benefits Cantor Arts Center’s Art Acquisitions Fund

STANFORD, CA — The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University announces Treasure Market 2011: Vintage in Vogue, Friday–Sunday, March 25–27. This popular biennial resale event offers art from around the world, antiques, china, collectible books, crystal, silver, linens, furs, and jewelry. The three-day event begins with Friday's opening night party and sale, held from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, featuring vintage treasures from the 1920s to the 1970s, a silent auction of period pieces from private collections, a signature cocktail, and sumptuous hors d'oeuvres. The weekend sale continues from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday. All proceeds support the Cantor Arts Center's fund to acquire new works of art for the museum.
Treasure Market organizers — who seek donations from art dealers and private collectors year-round — promise a unique experience in treasure hunting. “Treasure Market is a wonderful way for people to begin collecting valuable art at affordable prices,” said Paula Kirkeby, owner of Smith Andersen Editions in Palo Alto. Honorary event chair Andrea Hennessy (Stanford University's First Lady) has participated in past Treasure Markets as a donor, collector, and volunteer. Hennessy said, “I take particular delight in knowing that my donations and purchases generate funds for the Cantor Arts Center. Over the years, President Hennessy and I have purchased items from every category, and many of them have become cherished articles in our home.”
Sale of all objects begins at the opening night party, held Friday, March 25, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets to the opening night party are $100 for the general public and $75 for Cantor Arts Center members. Admission is $5 per day for the Saturday and Sunday sale, held from 10 am to 2 pm both days.

All Treasure Market events are held at the Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation on the Stanford campus, Galvez Street at Campus Drive East.
