Pinterest likes to say it helps users plan for the future – when they are getting married, say, or decorating a home or planning a dinner party. Now, thanks to a study it co-sponsored, it can claim far more compelling business value: Pinterest helps users find things they want to buy.
About 52% of roughly 1,500 active Pinterest users surveyed agreed that the site helps them find items they want to buy, including a little over 60% of participants who identified themselves as “Millennial Moms,” according to a study to be released Tuesday. Google said Monday that its self-driving cars had been involved in 11 “minor” accidents in the past six years, a disclosure the company hopes will assuage concern about the safety of the technology, but may have the opposite effect.
Chris Urmson, head of Google’s self-driving car program, said in a blog post that the accidents caused no injuries and only “light damage.” Google’s cars were not the cause of any of the incidents, he added. He said Google’s cars had driven 1.7 million miles over the period. Read More »

Facebook is testing the feature on a small number of iPhones in the United States. Users who are part of the test see a new “add a link” icon alongside options to add a location or photo to posts. In Windows 10, Microsoft is giving everyone the middle finger—or at least, the option to use one.
The new operating system, which will arrive on PCs this later summer and on phones before the end of the year, will introduce a middle-finger emoji, Microsoft’s VP of communications, Frank X.
