Where the D.School meets the B.School

This fall and winter quarter (S356/S366), Startup Garage brings together students from all schools and departments to use design thinking to unlock deep, unmet user needs, design and test pioneering solutions and business models, and ... launch!

What?

Spend two quarters learning a proven innovation process in the context of your own startup project:

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Interact with users to learn their deepest needs
  • Develop and road-test a novel product or service
  • Create an innovative business model or funding strategy
  • Launch and test a minimally viable product
  • And ... take off!!

This year, students will have the option to work in one of seven industry verticals, including healthcare. Healthcare projects will include both product and service innovation opportunities.

Students can bring their own ideas to the course, or work on needs identified by the teaching team. As they pursue their projects, teams will interact with industry partners, receive mentoring from experts in the field, and benefit from extensive coaching from the Innovation Fellows.
