Rena is a general surgery resident at Singhealth. An Indonesian who grew up in Singapore, she graduated summa cum laude with a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She then joined the inaugural batch and completed her medical degree at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School (Singapore) in 2011. On top of her residency training, Rena is also part of the Device Development Office (DDO) at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), a small group of like-minded clinicians and engineers passionate about bring innovative solutions to unmet clinical needs. Her main research interest is in breast and colorectal surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery, pelvic floor disorders and bowel incontinence surgery. Outside of work, Rena spends her vacations travelling around the globe with her husband. She is also an avid runner and regularly practices bikram/hot yoga.
