Join student curators to celebrate the opening of their new exhibit From “Curios” to Ambassadors: Changing Roles of the Daggett Collection from Tribes of the Lower Klamath River at the Stanford Archaeology Center on Thursday, June 4, 2015, beginning at 5:15 PM.In the late 1890s, the entrepreneur and politician John Daggett assembled an ethnographic collection to illustrate the lives of Hupa, Karuk, and Yurok communities in northern California. Now at Stanford University, these objects have come to represent more than Daggett ever intended through their accumulated histories and ongoing significance to tribal people.This exhibit is part of the Stanford University spring 2015 course Museum Cultures: Material Representation in the Past and Present, and will be on display until June 1, 2016.
