Labs & Centers

CIFE is a multi-disciplinary center that focuses on developing information technologies, tools and methods to dramatically improve the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.

Replacing aging wastewater infrastructure

Following a groundbreaking ceremony on March 26, 2014, Stanford is moving forward on the construction of the William and Cloy Codiga Resource Recovery Center, "CR2C" for short, whose main purpose will be to testbed and demonstrate scalability of promising wastewater treatment technologies and essentially serve as an innovation accelerator. One of the first key projects will be a test of resource recovery technology at pilot-scale, extracting clean water, nutrients, energy and chemical feedstocks from wastewater.

Stanford EESL facility

The Water Quality Control Research Laboratory contains a complex of several laboratories with a gross area of 14,000 square feet. These well-equipped research facilities contain the latest analytical and specialized experimental equipment.

Stanford Architecture

The Stanford Environmental Informatics Group addresses an innovative use of information technology to develop a framework for information sharing among research collaborations, and for information and knowledge access for all stakeholders for environmental and sustainable development tasks.

Highway infrastructure

The Global Projects Center is an interdisciplinary research center at Stanford University that works to facilitate understanding of the financing, development and governance of critical infrastructure worldwide.

The John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center at Stanford University is devoted to the advancement of research, education and practice in earthquake engineering.

Cornell University Dam

Formally launched in 1994, the NPDP is an effort to establish within the dam engineering and safety community the ability to learn from the in-service performance of dams, supporting improvements in dam design, operation, engineering and public policy.

AEC concept

The Project-Based Learning (PBL) Lab's mission is professional development for graduate and undergraduate students, faculty and industry practitioners in multi-disciplinary, collaborative and geographically distributed PBL activities. PBL is a process of teaching and learning that focuses on problem-based, project-centered activities that produce a product for a client.

Water pumps

ReNUWIt is an interdisciplinary, multi-institution research center whose goal is to change the ways we manage urban water. The center works toward a vision of safe, sustainable urban water infrastructures enabled by technological advances in natural and engineered systems, and informed by a deeper understanding of institutional frameworks.

The Stanford Construction Institute was launched in 1960 as one of Stanford's first Industrial Affiliate Programs to support enrichment of our Construction MS educational program by allowing us to engage practicing professionals from industry as consulting professors.

A classroom

The Environmental Engineering program at Stanford University is recognized as the leading academic program in the environmental and water science and technology field, dedicated to the educational development of uncommon insight and expertise necessary for environmental leadership in all professional directions.

Arches

The Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness (CSDGC) at Stanford University engages in research and educational programs that integrate business development strategies with leadership practices that will ensure enterprise growth and success within a healthy and sustainable natural environment.

The Bob and Norma Street Environmental Fluid Mechanics Laboratory (EFML) is home to research conducted in the Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology (EFMH) Program.
