Current Role at Stanford

Assistant Dean, Graduate Students
Stanford Engineering Office of Student Affairs

My focus: the 3500 graduate students and postdocs in Stanford's Engineering programs, and the policy and procedures that affect them. (A substantial component is financial policy and procedure.)
Secondary focus: the systems supporting their academic progress and financial support, including data & analysis.

In our School, graduate students and postdocs usually work directly with their department's Student Services Managers and staff, and with faculty advisors. The Dean's office does not play so visible or direct a role.

I am more than happy to talk with students, postdocs, and faculty. Most of my work, however, is "behind the scenes" with our departments and with my colleagues in the Schools and central offices (Financial Aid, VPGE, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, etc).
