Prior to becoming FSI's associate director for partnerships and special projects, Elizabeth Gardner was with Stanford’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC). She held two associate director positions at CISAC between 2002 and 2013. She also served as a consultant to Stanford’s Overseas Studies Program.
Liz started her career at the U.S. Department of State, helping craft and articulate U.S. and NATO policy in the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe multilateral negotiations.
On Capitol Hill, she worked for Senator Al Gore, Jr. (D-TN) and for Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) on defense and foreign policy issues.
After leaving Washington, D.C., Liz helped lead non-profit and for-profit public policy organizations in Los Angeles before coming to Stanford.
She holds a B.A. in history and political science from Stanford University and an M.S. in foreign service from Georgetown University.
