2nd Annual Global Health Research Convening

The 2nd Annual Global Health Research Convening will be held January 20, 2016 at the Bechtel Conference Center. The Convening aims to build community among researchers across schools, institutes and departments at Stanford who are working in the field of global health, foster collaboration and connect students to researchers and mentors.

Abstracts will be selected for posters and verbal presentations. Please submit an abstract listing the title, co-authors, their affiliations and a summary of your work. Limit the body of the abstract to 250 words. Submit all abstracts to Jill Mueller at sjillmueller@stanford.edu by Monday, November 16, 2015.

Consortium of Universities for Global Health, 7th Annual Conference

Save the date! The 2016 Annual CUGH Global Health Conference will be held in San Francisco, CA from April 9-11, 2016. Special satellite sessions will take place April 8, 2016. Learn more at www.cugh.org.

The next Bay Area Global Health Seminar will be held November 30, 2015 and feature scientific experts from UCSF, UC Berkeley, UC Davis and Stanford. The seminar will travel to UC Berkeley and feature two panel discussion centered around the topic "Global health education and training partnerships: Opportunities and challenges." Event details

Liver Cancer Workshop 2015

Join us Nov. 12, 2015 for a Liver Cancer Workshop featuring guest speakers and a panel discussion centered on the theme, "Epidemiology and Prevention of Liver Cancer: Global Perspectives and Application to the Bay Area for Cancer Control and Prevention." The event is hosted by the Stanford Cancer Institute, Liver Cancer Working Group and Center for Innovation in Global Health, and will be held from 12-4pm at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. World Bank President Jim Yong Kim: "Ending Poverty: How Health and Innovation Can Lead the Way"

The Stanford Global Development and Poverty Initiative (GDP), an initiative of Stanford Seed in partnership with the Freeman Spogli Institute, invites Stanford students, faculty and staff to a lunchtime talk by Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group. ASTMH 64th Annual Meeting

Stanford CIGH is on the scene at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) 64th Annual Meeting taking place this week in Philadelphia. The premier forum for the exchange of scientific advances in tropical medicine and global health, this year's ASTMH conference brings together nearly 4,200 attendees from over 75 countries dedicated to reducing the burden of tropical infectious diseases and improving health for all. Special Seminar with Ian Crozier

Ian Crozier, MD, is an infectious disease doctor and Ebola survivor who contracted the disease while treating patients in Sierra Leone in August 2014. In this talk, "A survivor's story: dual citizenship at the Ebola bedside," Dr. Crozier will briefly relate his experience as a WHO-deployed clinican, then as an Ebola patient and finally, as an Ebola survivor.  View event details

Bay Area Global Health Seminar

The next Bay Area Global Health Seminar will be hosted at the University of California, Davis with a focus on emerging infectious disease and associated environmental drivers. Conversation in Global Health

CIGH will host Dr. Chris Elias, president of global development at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, for the next Conversation in Global Health seminar. Join us on April 9 to hear more about Dr. Elias' long career in health & medicine, his work at the Gates Foundation and topical issues in global health. The event will be Stanford Medicine's Paul Costello and take place in LKSC 120 from 5:30-6:30 pm.
