The Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i) is one of 19 VA Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) Centers of Innovation in the United States. Its mission is to produce health services research that informs how VHA operational partners pursue healthcare through better access, higher quality, and wiser use of resources. Ci2i’s focused areas are: 1) Fostering high value mental health care; 2) Fostering high value medical specialty care; 3) Advancing value-oriented health services research methods.

Ci2i is an applied health services research center composed of experts trained in health services, health economics, epidemiology, public health, evaluation research, social psychology, medical sociology, and biostatistics. Ci2i has primary affiliations with the Department of Vetrans Affairs (VA) Health Care System in Palo Alto, and with several departments at Stanford University, including the Division of General Medical Disciplines. The Acting Director of CHCE is Steven M. Asch, MD, MPH, of the Division of General Medical Disciplines. The Associate Directors are Todd Wagner, PhD and Doug Owens, MD.

Ci2i is committed to advancing the health services research careers of junior faculty at the VA through its participation in the VA HSR&D Career Development Award Program. Ci2i also has active post-doctoral training programs in Advanced Fellowship in HSR&D and Advanced Fellowship Program in Medical Informatics.
