I joined the GSC because I want to give back to Stanford and make the graduate experience for future graduate students even better than the experience I have. I hope to improve late night dining and grocery store access for students and also structure the GSC so that it is more transparent and goal oriented.

I joined the GSC because I wanted to help build a stronger, happier graduate student community. As Funding Chair, I hope to better support graduate student organizations through improved communication and increased collaboration on funding policies and guideline implementations. As School of Engineering Representative and Healthcare Advocacy Representative, I plan to help address the concerns of graduate students through better liaison with university administration to analyze needs and devise solutions.
I joined the GSC to give back during my final year at Stanford. I hope to raise awareness and increase transparency of student and administration programs.
I joined the GSC to help serve the interests of the graduate students at Stanford and advocate student issues, especially those pertaining to the engineering student population. For the upcoming year I am also the International Student Advocate and one of the Social Coordinators. In this upcoming year I am planning to undertake one or two major projects to help serve the interest of all graduate students and provide them a guide to the resources available to students.
Serve the graduate student population and give back to the Stanford community. Help out with the GSC initiatives on improving the social and professional lives of graduate students at Stanford.
Joining the Graduate Student Council reflects my commitment to working with and for my peers to create a positive university environment for teaching, learning, research, and living for the Stanford community. I strive to create positive measurable changes regarding the quality of graduate life, waste management, and university transparency. I intend to do this by listening to the concerns of my peers and tenaciously advocating for them.
I joined the GSC to represent the interests of the graduate student community as a whole and to work on various initiatives aimed at improving student life. I hope to increase efforts to promote sustainability within the graduate community. I also will contribute to the GSC’s combined effort to present solutions to any issues affecting the student body that arise throughout the year.
The GSC provides a great oportunity to make a difference on campus. If something needs to get done, the resources and contacts available through the GSC make it much easier to get it done. In addition to serving as a point of contact in student government for all students of the School of Medicine, I would like to work with members and allies of the LGBT community to persuade administrators at Stanford to collect more data on the existing LGBT student community at Stanford, and to consider LGBT identities when designing strategies to increase and support student diversity. Currently, Stanford has no information about the size or needs of this community, which would be very useful for the creation and allocation of resources on campus.

I joined the GSC work with great people and help make the grad experience incredible for other students. I want to connect with others and create great memories.
Cheng is currently a 5th year Ph.D student in Mechanical Engineering. His research is about developing multi-physical models to understand why and how dos the human cornea swell under different situations (e.g. in vivo, in vitro, or pathological conditions). Besides his research, Xi has been serving as the webmaster for GSC for 3 years. This year, Xi works with Bryce and Trevor to reinvent the GSC website.
