Overview of Conditions Treated

We specialize in the treatment of immune system and rheumatic diseases, including:

Arthritis

A group of diseases and conditions that may cause pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints and other supporting body structures, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. 

Bursitis

Swelling and irritation of a bursa, a fluid-filled sac, typically impacting the knee, shoulder or hip, that acts as a cushion between muscles, tendons, and joints.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

A condition in which the median nerve is compressed as it passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist, a narrow confined space.

Connective tissue disease

A range of conditions in which the connective tissues become inflammed or damaged; can be inherited or caused by environmental factors.

Infectious arthritis

An infection in the joint (synovial) fluid and joint tissues, often due to an injection, surgery, or injury.

Lupus

An autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body's cells and tissue, resulting in widespread, chronic inflammation and tissue damage.

Myositis

A condition characterized by muscle inflammation and degeneration; can be caused by infection, injury, certain medicines, exercise, and chronic disease.

Paget's disease

A chronic disorder that can result in enlarged and misshapen bones, accompanied by pain, fractures, and arthritis in the joints near the affected bones.

Polymyositis

A type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis.

Raynaud's disease

A disorder characterized by decreased blood flow to the fingers, and less frequently to the ears, toes, nipples, knees, or nose, usually in response to cold exposure or emotional upset.

Rheumatoid arthritis

A chronic, autoimmune disease characterized by painful and stiff joints on both sides of the body that may become enlarged and deformed.

Scleroderma

A chronic, degenerative disease that affects the joints, skin, and internal organs. Scleroderma is also associated with blood vessel abnormalities.

Vasculitis syndrome

A group of uncommon diseases characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels.
