Welcome to the Wong Lab
The goal of this laboratory is to define targets for cancer therapeutics by identifying alterations in signal transduction proteins and then translating these findings into important clinical tools. The major type of cancer that we study is glioblastoma multiforme, the most common and devastating of the human brain tumors, but our work also has relevance in lung, breast, ovarian and prostate cancers. We have discovered and characterized novel and mutant/splice variant proteins such as EGFRvIII, Gab-1, and mLEEK. From these discoveries we have generated an effective peptide vaccine for GBM therapy, and have developed a bi-specific antibody reagent with even greater potential for treatment of patients with EGFRvIII positive GBM by discovery of EGFRvIII expression in GBM cancer stem cells.
