The Global Child Health Program

Global Child Health Program works to improve the health and well-being of children around the world through medical training, multi-disciplinary research, and improved clinical care for the underserved. Program members conduct research into such diverse areas as polio, arboviruses, cancer, child development and nutrition, gender-based violence, educational interventions and novel diagnostics. In addition, through the Mary Duke Biddle Scholarship Program, dozens of medical students, residents and faculty scholars have received clinical training oversees in 14 different countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Pediatric residents can also apply for the Global Health Scholarly Concentration, which is intended for physicians who are interested in incorporating international work into their long-term careers. Participation in this track allows residents to understand the general principles related to the health of children in low-resource settings, and it allows residents to gain knowledge and skills to become physician-leaders in global health while helping to close some of the health disparities seen in global health.
