MRI guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery Patient Treatments in the News

Patient Research using Focused Ultrasound Surgery (FUS) led by Dr. Pejman Ghanouni has led to two featured articles by the Focused Ultrasound Foundation.  Dr. Ghanouni works closely with Dr. Kim Butts Pauly's research group on development of new MRI guided FUS techniques.

Dr. Ghanouni is featured in an article entitled "Stanford Leading Focused Ultrasound Innovation in Research and Clinical Treatment," where he describes the use of FUS in treating patients for bone metastases, uterine fibroids, essential tremor and sof tissue tumors.

Drs. Pejman Ghanouni, Hans Weber, Kim Butts Pauly and Brian Hargreaves have also made advances in MR-guided focused ultrasound treatments of tumors near metallic implants.  This work was featured on the Focused Ultrasound Foundation website, which details the first successful patient treatment.
