Stanford University President John L. Hennessy will announce a major initiative to leverage the university's expertise in addressing the world's most pressing energy challenges. The event will take place Monday, Jan. 12, in Memorial Auditorium. A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m., followed by a formal announcement and panel discussion at 4 p.m.
Confirmed panelists are Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of Google Inc.; venture capitalist John Doerr, partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers; Jane Woodward, chief executive officer of MAP; Jim Sweeney, director of the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency at Stanford; and Sally Benson, director of Stanford's Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP). Lynn Orr, founding director of GCEP, will moderate.
