Public Safety’s Red passes away

Police Chief LAURA WILSON recently announced the sad passing of RED, the Department of Public Safety’s (SUPDS) first EOD (Explosive Ordinance Detection) K-9. Following is her message:

“Red joined the department on 02/01/2007 and immediately became a valuable contributor and welcomed addition to the department. With her handler, ADAM CULLEN, Red responded to suspicious package calls and conducted numerous searches at special events and VIP visits not only at Stanford but throughout the Bay Area. They were also a welcomed sight at the elementary schools and numerous community outreach activities on campus. Together, Adam and Red’s professionalism brought positive recognition to our department.

“When not diligently working on detecting possible explosives, Red was a playful member of our SUDPS family. Although she was first and foremost a working EOD K9, for SUDPS, she was also a beloved and special member of the Cullen family. She will be sorely missed by her immediate family and the extended SUDPS family.

“Red’s years of service will be remembered with deep gratitude and fondness. Please join me in honoring her years of great service and sharing my sadness of her passing.
