The Stanford Patient Education Research Center offers update training when a workshop has undergone a major revision. Active Master Trainers and T-Trainers must take the update training before offering the revised program to the public or conducting update training for their Leaders.

We are currently offering update training for the 2016 Positive Self-Management Program (PSMP - HIV) as web-based update training to those who have previously been trained as a Master Trainer or T-Trainer in the 2005 Positive Self-Management Program (PSMP).

What is the format for a web-based training?

You will be asked to complete and turn in pre-webinar assignments, and then attend a real time webinar facilitated by a T-Trainer. A group of 10-20 participants will meet through the webinar for up to 3 hours at a pre-set date and time.

Who can attend the Stanford web-based trainings?

At least one of the following conditions must be met:

1. Be an active certified Leder, Master Trainer or T-Trainer

2. Someone trained in the old program within 12 months prior to update enrollment date whose certification is in progress.

How do I access the pre-webinar activities?

All update training requires that you spend time reviewing training videos and completing training assignments before the webinar. Homework for the webinar can take up to 6 hours to complete. All training activities and videos can be found on the website. After you have registered, you will receive a username and password to access the training site about 2 weeks before the webnar.

How do I access the webinar?

Stanford will send you an invitation via email to access the webinar. This email will contain the dates and times as well as any other instructions that you will need. There is also an instruction form that you can download from the specific program's training site.

Do I need to have previous experience with web-based trainings?

No previous experience is required. However, if this is your first time participating in web-based trainings we recommend you schedule plenty of time to read and follow all pre-webinar instructions.

How do I register for update training?

What is the format for a web-based training?

You will be asked to complete pre-webinar assignments which can take up to 6 hours, and attend 1 real time webinar with your T-Trainer and up to 25 other trainees. Participants will meet together through the webinar meeting for up to 3 hours.

What if I know someone else that wants to attend?

In order to get credit for attending an update training, each trainee needs to register for the training. Send them the link to this page.

Once I am updated, can I update Leaders using the web format?

No. Only Stanford trainers can conduct web-based update trainings. Updating Leaders must be done face-to-face. You will receive an update manual for the 2-day update Leader Training.
