Lucile Packard Children's Hospital’s physicians and staff are actively involved in community initiatives that promote healthy nutrition choices and more active lifestyles. These include the city, county and regional coalitions formed to improve children’s health and well-being.

Healthy Silicon Valley

Healthy Silicon Valley works to improve nutrition and increase physical activity in Santa Clara County. It involves several industries and organizations such as:

San Mateo County Prevention of Childhood Obesity Taskforce

The Healthy Communities San Mateo County Prevention of Childhood Obesity Taskforce consists of over 250 stakeholders including representatives from:Health care

  • Parent organizations
  • Government agencies

Center for Healthy Weight staff have been active participants since the taskforce started.

Get Fit East Palo Alto

Ravenswood Family Health Center started and coordinates Get Fit EPA to address the rising number of overweight children and adults in the East Palo Alto community. Its mission is to improve the health of community residents by:

  • Increasing awareness and resources
  • Promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity

Center for Healthy Weight staff have been heavily involved since its formation in May 2004.
