Eligibility for Pilot Programs

Caltrain Go Pass

The pilot Go Pass programs are offered to students enrolled in a Stanford graduate-degree granting program and postdocs residing off Stanford property and within typical daily commuting distances. The Pilot Go Pass program eligibility is consistent with the Go Pass program for university and hospital employees.

The discounted cost for the 2015 annual pass, valid through Dec. 31, is $100.

Graduate Students Postdoctoral Scholars Not eligible

Off-campus graduate students who meet all of the following conditions:

  • are enrolled in a Stanford graduate degree-granting program
  • are enrolled in at least 6 units or are on TGR status
  • local address is not on Stanford property (outside of the 94304, 94305, and 94309 ZIP codes*)
  • local address is within a typical commuting range of Stanford's main campus (i.e., Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, and Yolo counties)
  • are not in a classification listed under "Not eligible"

Postdoctoral scholars who meet all of the following conditions:

  • are a postdoctoral scholar or medical fellow who is appointed through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs
  • work 20 or more hours per week
  • local address is not on Stanford property (outside of the 94304, 94305, and 94309 ZIP codes*)
  • local address is within a typical commuting range of Stanford's main campus (i.e., Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, and Yolo counties)
  • are not in a classification listed under "Not eligible"
  • undergraduate students
  • coterminal students who are assessed undergraduate tuition
  • visiting scholars and visiting fellows
  • non-matriculated graduate students who are not pursuing a Stanford graduate degree, including Continuing Studies students, Visiting Student Researchers, Students of New Faculty, students visiting or on exchanges from other universities, Knight and Stegner Fellows, auditors, and SCPD students who are not enrolled in a master’s degree program.
  • anyone whose local address in Axess has a 94304, 94305, 94309, or blank ZIP code*
  • students or postdoctoral scholars whose residence ZIP code and/or worksite is/are not within typical commuting range of Stanford's main campus (e.g., outside of California, Southern California, Hopkins Marine Station)

*Confirmation of residence in an eligible ZIP code can ONLY be made by updating your local residential address through Axess, which updates the P&TS customer database within approximately two to three days. No other proof of residence will be accepted and no exceptions can be made.
