Inside Axess: Behind the Scenes of the Axess Redesign Project

Axess is used by students, facuIty, staff, administrative system users, alumni, and family members paying their student's tuition. Over 30,000 users visit Axess each day.

To redesign Axess, we partnered with a professional user experience and design firm for guidance. The core team driving the project included community members from Administrative Systems, Financial Management Services, the Registrar's Office and University Human Resources.

Feedback was gathered from over 2,500 students, faculty and staff through an online survey, an analysis of help ticket requests, and targeted focus groups to identify changes that would be meaningful to all user groups.

Changes will be implemented in phases, giving you access to the new features and functionality as soon as they're available. These phases will affect various user groups (i.e, students, faculty, and staff) in different ways, so be sure to watch this space for more details throughout the year.

Here's What to Expect:

Phase Two

Set to make its campus debut in February 2015, this phase improves Axess for all users. Highlights include:

  • Redesigned Advisor Center: A mobile-responsive dashboard with a fresh new look and feel for student advisors to manage their advisee roster, monitor their action items, and release advisee account holds

  • Improved System Preferences Menu: A streamlined preferences menu for all users to easily update their system settings for the Axess portal

Phase Two

Delivered in several staged releases throughout the year, this phase includes enhancements for alumni and employees. Highlights include:

  • New Alumni Dashboard : An interactive, mobile-responsive dashboard for alumni to request their official transcript, view their financial balance, and manage their alumni information

  • MyAxess for Employees: An interactive, mobile-responsive homepage for employees to manage their action items, review employment details, and keep up-to-date on university announcements.

  • New Employee Center
