John W. Steenbock, Deputy Director of EPA’s National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL)

John Steenbock is the Deputy Director for the National Risk Management Research Lab.  John joined EPA in September 2013.  Prior to joining the EPA, John had 22 years of federal experience in the Department of Defense (DoD). John has held leadership positions within the DoD at the wing, major command and Department levels, both state side and overseas. Prior to his current position, John was Director, Manpower, Personnel and Services, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command.

In this position he served as the senior civilian official in the force development, management, and sustainment of the command's nearly 80,000 military and civilian professionals. John is from Leonardville, KS. He graduated from Washburn University in 1989 and Kansas State University in 1991.  John began his federal career as an intern at Fairchild AFB, WA in 1991.
