Sailing on Three Fronts

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford sailing team was in action at multiple locations this past weekend, sending crews to three competitions across the nation.

The Cardinal finished fifth at the Truxton Umstead Interconference, which featured two coed divisions and two singlehanded divisions.

Stanford had matching fourth-place finishes in the coed A and B divisions. Will La Dow and Yuki Yoshiyasu represented the Cardinal in the A-group, while Lily Katz and John Cannistraro sailed in the B-division. William Marshall also finished fourth in the singlehanded C-division, while Haley Fox took 13th place in the D-division.

At the Yale Women’s Interconference, Julia Lambert and Maeve White took 11th place in the A-division, with the freshman duo of Martina Sly and Maggie Schult finishing ninth in the B-division. Stanford took 11th place in the 18-team field.

At the Captain Hurst Bowl, Stanford finished ninth. Freshman tandem of Russell Clarida and Kathryn Booker paced the Cardinal with a first-place finish in the B-division. Reinier Eenkema Van Dijk and Kennedy Placek took ninth in the A-division, while Cassie Obel and Noelle Herring finished 17th in the C-division.

Stanford returns to action next week when it travels to Providence, Rhode Island, to compete in the Hoyt Trophy, hosted by Brown.
