KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Senior All-Americans Mariah Stackhouse and Lauren Kim fired 3-under-par 69s on Sunday to pace the second-ranked Stanford women's golf team in the first round of the ANNIKA Invitational Presented by 3M at Reunion Resort. The Cardinal posted a team-score of 1-over 289 and is tied for ninth in the elite 12-team tournament co-founded by the ANNIKA Foundation and Golfweek.
Southern California earned the opening-day lead with a 12-under par score of 276.
Stackhouse played the front nine in 1-over, but rebounded with a sparkling 4-under 32 on the back, carding birdies at the par-4 10th and 11th holes, the par-5 17th and par-4 18th. Kim toured the front nine in 2-under and the back in 1-under, finishing with four birdies and one bogey. They are tied for eighth individually.
Sophomore Shannon Aubert was even par through 15 holes, but double-bogeyed the par-4 16th and shot 74 and is tied for 42nd. Junior Casey Danielson shot 77 and is tied for 51st, while junior Quirine Ejikenboom checked in at 78 and is tied for 53rd.
The 54-hole event continues Monday and Tuesday.
Stanford, the defending NCAA champion, started the fall season by winning the Branch Law Firm Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
