STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford defeated Pacific, 134-63, on Friday afternoon in a nonconference men's swimming meet at Avery Aquatic Center.

“As we get back into classes and back into our strength program, this meet is always a good test to see how well we can swim, support teammates and focus on the small things,” said Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming Ted Knapp. “I felt like we accomplished it all; there was some really good focus, along with some fun, a lot of guys swam off events and we showed great team support and spirit.”

Stanford held the upper hand from the start, with the team of Ryan Arata, Christian Brown, Andrew Liang and Sean Duggan (3:19.43) winning the 400-yard medley relay to start the meet.

Patrick Conaton (7:35.31) and Maxwell Williamson (7:35.58) followed it up by taking the top two spots in the 800-yard freestyle.

Liam Egan (1:39.65), Spencer DeShon (1:39.70) and Danny Thomson (1:41.53) followed it up with a sweep of the podium in the 200-yard freestyle.

Liang (23.43) won the 50-yard backstroke, with Sam Perry (26.02) and Daniel Le (26.04) finishing one-two in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Jimmy Yoder (1:17.64) won the 150-yard butterfly, with Connor Black (1:19.70), Arata (1:20.47) finishing second and third, respectively.

Duggan (20.80) won the 50-yard freestyle to give Stanford an 89-21 lead through seven events.

DeShon (45.52), Yoder (46.31) and Black (46.52) swept the podium in the 100-yard freestyle, while Liang (1:19.39), Ogren (1:19.97) and Arata (1:20.07) finished first, second and third, respectively, in the 150-yard backstroke.

Le (1:29.72), Matt Anderson (1:31.17) and Thomson (1:34.21) took the top three spots in the 150-yard breaststroke, with Williamson (3:40.56) narrowly beating out Brad Zdroik (3:40.86) to win the 400-yard freestyle.

Duggan (1:51.58) won his third event on the day in the 200-yard individual medley, with Jeff Garnier (1:53.54) and Conaton (1:54.36) following him in second and third, respectively.

Stanford's relay team of Cole Cogswell, Perry, Wesley Olmsted and Anderson (1:23.07) finished the meet in style with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Stanford returns to action Jan. 22 when it hosts Arizona State in a conference meet, which will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
