Hack Leads U.S. Olympic Eight
RIO de JANEIRO – Austin Hack, one of Stanford's all-time great rowers, stroked the United States men's eight to a fourth place finish in the Olympics Saturday morning.

Hack, who starred at Stanford from 2011-14, served as the stroke for the United States' eight that qualified for the Olympics at the end of May.

The United States eight completed the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas racecourse in 5:34.23 to place fourth, behind gold medalist Great Britain (5:29.63), silver medalist Germany (5:30.96) and bronze medalist Netherlands (5:31.59).

After placing second in Monday's heat with a time of 5:40.16, the United States eight won its repechage on Thursday with a time of 5:51.13 to reach Saturday's A Final.

Hack continued a rich history of Olympic competition for the Stanford women's rowing program. We will wait four years to see who will be part of the next chapter of Cardinal Olympic rowers in the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
