Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique has an amazing diversity of ecosystems and wildlife. Decades of war, ending in the 1990’s, decimated the populations of many of Gorongosa’s large animals, but thanks to a large-scale restoration effort some are now rebounding. Gorongosa’s researchers are working to discover and catalog animal species in Gorongosa and track their recovery using remote trail cameras. These cameras are equipped with motion sensors that snap photos when an animal moves in front of them.
The trail cameras have collected hundreds of thousands of photos (and counting) and scientists need your help in identifying the animals! WildCam Gorongosa is an online citizen science platform that will allow you to see and identify the animals captured in these photos. Join WildCam Gorongosa today and contribute to this important research.
