At SLS, students don’t just learn to practice law.
They learn to shape it, through immersive programs that cultivate the rigorous analytical skills needed to address pressing social, economic and environmental issues.
An only-at-Stanford opportunity, the Law and Policy Lab puts students on the front lines of policy-making. Working under the guidance of faculty advisers, students counsel real clients on real challenges — equity in education, copyright and patent reform, reducing childhood obesity, protecting international human rights and preventing wildlife trafficking, to name just a few. Since its launch, this unique policy incubator has introduced more than 40 practicums, each exploring an urgent area of law. As practicums complete their work, new projects come on board, with more than 20 on offer today. And the program continues to grow.
