Introducing Moby's Trivia Tuesday!
Did you know that Electronic Arts was originally called Amazin' Software?
According to founder Trip Hawkins, "The original name had been Amazin' Software. But I wanted to recognize software as an art form and wanted to change it to SoftArt. But Dan Bricklin of Software Arts asked us not to use that name. So, in October of 1982 I called a meeting of our first twelve employees and our outside marketing agency and we brainstormed and decided to change it to Electronic Arts."

RollerCoaster Tycoon's 15th Anniversary
This month MobyGames turned 15 and so did the classic RollerCoaster Tycoon series!
I remember when RollerCoaster Tycoon was released and it dominated the NPD PC charts for years. It was an extremely impressive achievement, especially given that the game was created by one developer and programmed in assembly of all things.
To celebrate, GOG has a sale on the original games for just $8.17 until April 2nd. If you haven't played these classics in a while, this is a good opportunity to get them on the cheap!

Tip Of The DayYou can contribute technical details and platform-specific information to existing entries by entering the Add Game Wizard. Just enter the title of the game already in the database (make sure it's exact!) and you'll be whisked to a special screen where you can contribute platform and technical attributes. Again, make sure the title is exactly the same as the title in the database, otherwise you'll be adding a duplicate entry that we'll have to reject in the interest of keeping the database clean and consistent. more tips

Star Control II
There are few games out there that defy genre classification without deteriorating into mediocre jacks-of-all-trades. Star Control II is one of those ultra-rare gems that excels in everything it does, even though it's hard to describe what it does, exactly. It is essentially an RPG masquerading as a strategy game, with adventure-like tasks and dialogues and addictive arcade action combat. It is a game of growth and exploration reminiscent of Starflight, but more plot-driven and full of exceedingly smart writing and humor - all presented with some of the best graphics and music its era was capable of. Its incredibly charismatic personality and the obvious love and dedication poured into it made it a timeless classic.
